How far is Ouzoud from Marrakech?

The waterfalls are approximately 150 km (93 miles) away. The drive takes about 2.5 to 3 hours each way, depending on traffic and road conditions. It is a longer journey than the Ourika Valley.

Is the hike difficult?

The path consists of a long paved stairway leading down to the bottom of the falls. It is moderately challenging. Walking down is easy, but the walk back up involves climbing many stairs. It takes about 20–30 minutes each way. If you have knee problems or mobility issues, you can still enjoy great views from the top terraces without going down.

Drive north, passing through the city and out onto the plains.
You will see the landscape change from arid plains to fertile agricultural land filled with olive and orange trees.

10:30 AM :

Refreshment Stop

Stop briefly in a small town like Tadla Azilal for a coffee, restroom break, or to stretch your legs.

11:15 AM :

Arrival at Ouzoud & Meeting the Monkeys

Arrive at the village of Ouzoud. The name means "Olive" in the local Berber dialect.
Wildlife Spotting: You will likely be greeted by the local inhabitants of the valley—the Barbary Macaques (monkeys).
- Important Note: They are wild but used to people. Please do not feed them or touch them to avoid bites/scratches.

11:30 AM :

Hike to the Bottom of the Falls

Walk through the olive groves to reach the edge of the canyon.
Begin the descent down the paved path (approx. 20–30 minutes). There are several viewpoints along the way where you can see the 110m (330ft) high falls crashing down into the pool below.
Look for the rainbow that often forms in the mist of the spray.

12:30 PM :

Optional Boat Ride

Once at the bottom, take a small wooden boat (run by local boatmen) right up to the spray of the falls.
Cost: Approximately 20–50 MAD per person (paid directly). This is the best way to feel the power of the water.

Lunch Overlooking the Water

Enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at one of the many terraced restaurants situated right next to the water at the bottom of the falls.
Listen to the roar of the water while eating.
